MEET OUR DENTIST

Dr. Joel S. Butterworth

Dr. Joel Butterworth, son of Fredericksburg Smile Center founder Dr. Cathie Hidalgo, is a native of the area. Dr. Butterworth grew up in Bowling Green and Fredericksburg where he graduated from Fredericksburg Academy. Dr. Butterworth attended The College of Charleston and graduated with a B.S. in Biology and received minors in Political Science and Spanish. He received his D.D.S from Howard University College of Dentistry in 2015. Upon graduation, Dr. Butterworth completed a General Practice Residency at the Portland VA Medical Center in Portland, Oregon. Working with veterans, he has extensive training in hospital dentistry and clinical experience with medically compromised patients. In addition to advanced work in all fields of dentistry, Dr. Butterworth’s training includes advanced anesthesia and pain control, TMJ disorders, dental oncology and emergency medicine. Dr. Butterworth enjoys spending time with his family, hunting, golfing, gardening, cooking, traveling, and tending to his homestead.

We perform many oral and maxillofacial surgery procedures at our Fredericksburg office. Our doctors have extensive training in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of oral health conditions. Our Oral Surgeon is board certified in his specialty and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He is highly skilled in implants, wisdom teeth removal, full arch rehabilitation, bone grafting, sinus augmentations, impacted canines and facial trauma.

MEET OUR ASSOCIATE DENTIST

Dr. Nil Amin

Dr. Nil Amin is the youngest of three and is from Yorktown, Virginia. Dr. Amin earned a B.S. in Chemistry with a minor in Mathematics from Virginia Commonwealth University. He then went on to attend the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine to receive his Doctorate of Dental Medicine (DMD). Upon graduation, Dr. Amin went to Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania to complete his general practice residency at the Wilkes Barre VA Medical Center. During his residency, he received extensive training with medically compromised patients. He recently got engaged and enjoys playing tennis, cooking, and traveling.

MEET OUR DENTAL HYGIENIST

Lyndsie Jessee

Lyndsie Baden is a Dental Hygienist with over 17 years of experience in the field. She was a dental assistant for 8 years and graduated from the NVCC Dental Hygienist program in 2014. Lyndsie is passionate about her job and loves to connect with patients. She is dedicated to providing a positive patient experience and strives to build long-lasting relationships with each patient. Outside of the office, Lyndsie enjoys spending time at the beach, camping, and skiing.

MEET OUR DENTAL HYGIENIST

Toni Cantillon

Toni Cantillon is a Dental Hygienist and joined the Smile Center full-time in September 2023. She has been in the field for over 10 years and completed the NVCC Dental Hygienist program in 2014. She is committed to providing a comfortable patient experience and offering patient education. She helps make patients feel at ease by building confidence and helping them communicate with their dentist. Toni enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband and dogs. In her spare time, she likes to remain active by running and then relaxing with a glass of wine.
