You might need oral surgery for a lot of reasons. Most common is removal of your wisdom teeth, but oral surgery can also be a part of treating temporomandibular joint (TMJ) problems, replacing missing teeth, and repairing a facial injury. We have an oral surgeon on staff at our facility, so we can take care of you right here in our office!
During your surgery, your oral surgeon will use anesthesia to prevent you from feeling any pain. Some kinds of anesthesia are localized and only numb the area of the surgery. Others put you to sleep, so that you have a limited memory of the procedure. Here at the Smile Center, we also use Conscious Sedation, which allows you to stay awake and respond to the surgeon’s directions, without feeling any pain. Conscious Sedation allows you to have several procedures done at the same time and is often very convenient for those trying to maintain commuting schedules.
